Sermon: The Home He Makes In Us
John 14.15-31: Jesus tells us that we will deal with trouble in this world, but take heart because he has overcome the world. The gift of the Spirit is to help us navigate this trouble and the Spirit serves as a spiritual suspension system that allows us to find peace in the midst of the challenges. We often forget the presence of the Spirit, but he is there to smooth our road and to guide us with peace through bumpy spots.

Sermon: A Peace Unlike Any Other
John 14.15-31: In preparation for Pentecost, we consider the gift of the Spirit as Jesus teaches us in John 14. Against the spirits of this age, the Holy Spirit offers peace, hope, and the promises of everlasting life. With the Spirit, we are not left alone, but are given the presence of God as a confidence in this challenging world.

    Sermon: Who Images Whom?
Psalm 50: We engage the second part of God's accusation found in Psalm 50. This issue is an insidious twisting of the mind and heart. It is a deceptive shift in thought that fails to contemplate the holiness of God and following his path. It leads to a divided self that only Christ can bring back together. This text calls us to humility, to remember our sin, but moreso to relish God's grace to lift us up to his glory.

    Sermon: God’s Hunger for Fellowship
Psalm 50: God's ultimate desire is to restore fellowship with his people. He will die for this. But sometimes we forget this and see our connection with God as first not about fellowship with him, but about him providing for our desires. He is gracious to provide for us, but he doesn't want us to forget the end goal - connection with God. Without that, we lose everything no matter how much we gain in this life. We must have an attitude of thanks, of contentment and not of discontent to recognize all that we have been given and to rest in him.

    Sermon: Mouth Guarded, Eyes Fixed
Psalm 141: The life of the Christian contains the experience of feeling surrounded by the evil of world, whether on a grand scale or in smaller ways. It is easy to lose sight of the surrounding witnesses (Hebrews 12) and the faithfulness of God's presence. How do we deal with this? David guides us how to keep our hearts about us in the midst of feeling surrounded by the enemy with his traps and snares that seek to snag us.

Sermon: By the Mercies of God
Romans 12.1-2: Scott Johnson from the Seward Seafarers Mission Center led us in God's words this morning as he reminded us of the great mercies of God. Because of his great mercy toward us, it makes sense for us to give our lives as living sacrifices for his purposes.

Sermon: By Faith – Eyes Fixed on the Prize
Hebrews 12.1-3: We are surrounded by witnesses of the gospel life in those who come before us. This urges us to keep moving forward as they did. Their lives encourage us and call us to keep our eyes fixed on the One who leads us - Jesus Christ. (At the end are testimonies of faith given by members).

Sermon: By Faith – The Long Strand of History
Hebrews 11.29-40: To tie one's own life in time to eternity is the life of faith. This calls for a trust in God's promise of a coming kingdom, one that will overcome all that this world is and bring renewal and victory. Though we might see decay, defeat, and despair all around, we wave our palms of victory - for we know the end of his story.

Sermon: By Faith – Moses and Proper Fear
Hebrews 11.23-28: To live by faith is to live in the fear of God. To live in the fear of God means to not be intimidated by the fear of man. This is a challenging place to live and earthly fears are real and constantly surrounding us. To address fear, we must continually be sober-minded and keep our hearts grounded in Scripture and reverent fear of the Lord.

Sermon: By Faith – A People Defined Not by the Grave
Hebrews 11.17-22: Living 'by faith' leads to an ever-expanding horizon of our future. We begin to inhabit our eternal future even now as we face the trials of life. To live opposite 'by faith' leads to an ever-shrinking horizon as our future begins to collapse into our present. Christ opens us up to the sure future of broad vistas of God's eternal kingdom.
