Sermon: The Heavenward Prize
Philippians 3: The pursuit of glory is wrapped up in the pattern that Jesus brought - the cross and resurrection. To live in this pattern serves as a guiding light to the world. As Paul reflects the glory of Christ, he shines like a star in the heavens, holding forth the word of life. As other Christians live in that way, so do they. Living this way points all to the higher glory of Christ, where life is found.

Philippians 2.12-19: By understanding Paul's playing off of Deuteronomy, we see the great confidence Paul has because of the coming of Christ. Moses had little confidence in the people, but Paul speaks of great confidence because of Christ and the coming of the Spirit. In Christ, we live in a completely different age and strength. It calls us to live confidently as we stay connected to the Word.

Sermon: Shining Like Stars – Part 2
Philippians 2.1-11: To know what it means to shine like stars, we first need to understand the glory of the light of Christ. For we follow from him. In ch. 2, Paul wants to highlight Christ's glory in his obedience to the Father, a willingness to give of himself in full obedience and not seek for himself glory. This is his glory, the cross, giving of himself, thinking of others before himself. This is our source of life.

Philippians 2.12-18: We begin a look at Paul's teaching in Philippians 2.12-18, which gives insight into the resurrection life of the Christian. In this opening part, we look at the connections of Paul's writing with background in the end of Deuteronomy, which focuses on Moses' final days and words. By making this connection, it will help us move forward to grasp better what Paul is talking about to the Philippian Christians.
