I John 5.1-5, 13-15: Though the world tempts to bring us to despair, in Jesus Christ we are victorious. He promises us victory and his continuing presence in our life. He hears us when we cry out and gives us hope in his promise.

I John 1.1-2.2: To confront the threat of darkness and death, John tells us "the life appeared." This reality gives us comfort against all the threats the darkness wields and offers the hope of eternal life. In this, we gain great joy!

Acts 13.13-52: In Paul preaching the gospel, we sense his joy that has replaced his self-righteous anger. This is based on the overwhelming patience of God to offer him grace, though he was an enemy. This is a needed realization for all of us.

Acts 12: In Peter's miraculous escape, we see confirmation of God's continual working through his resurrection power in the church. It calls us to live out of that power and not the powers of the world.
